Mono printing can be done in many ways to produce unique one off prints. First you'll be shown a variety of  samples and ideas Demonstrations and one-to-one help throughout the workshop.
You will go home happy with many mono prints!
We will cover;

- trace monoprint 

- chine colle - collage elements

- additive and subtractive mono print

- use of cut or torn stencils for masking and positive/negative 

- colour

- how to use the press and how to print without a press

Mono Printmaking Workshop

I absolutely loved this class, Armi was the most charming and comprehensive of teachers.Her studio is stunning and with the addition of the most delicious handmade cake shared during the break, she made us feel totally at home.I would highly recommend this course, I came away feeling totally inspired.

A class on both mono printing and gelli printing. Armi was very informative and friendly. The venue was gorgeous and the cake was great. Perfect size class with just 6 of us. Armi was very kind in making sure that my daughter didn’t feel out of her depth.

Armi’s class was great - we learned lots of different printing techniques - it was very hands on and experimental, and great for keen artists or complete beginners. Everyone came out with lots of lovely prints at the end. The studio is beautiful and fantastically equipped. I’d recommend this to anyone for a creative, inspiring way to spend an afternoon.

I attended this class with my two nieces and nephew and we came away absolutely buzzing with excitement! It was a great class and Armi is a fantastic teacher. We learnt something really fun and new but also came away infused with confidence and full of ideas, plus handfuls of artwork to show off. 
Armi was incredibly welcoming and started off the lesson with a few drawing exorcises that got us going and gave us tonnes of confidence to start creating prints straight away. I've never done anything like this before and at the ripe old age of forty something discovered that I'm not actually so terrible at drawing after all! 
The young ones (teen's) had so much fun and declared it the 'best Christmas present ever'. My nephew showed his work to his art teacher at school who was most impressed and has been told that he can include it in his GCSE art portfolio. He has declared that printing his favourite medium.
What more can I say? It was utterly brilliant, the setting was perfect and inspiring, Armi has the dream studio and it was an utter pleasure spending a few hours in there. 
Nothing compares to the generosity of those who share their knowledge and build confidence in other people; thank you Armi.  :O)

A fantastic & inspiring workshop from Armi! We had a wonderful morning doing some initial drawing exercises followed by a well demonstrated lesson in creating mono prints. Armi showed us a small powerpoint & lots of samples to give us inspiration before we started creating! She has an extremely well stocked supply of exciting papers & ephemera that we were able to use in our designs. The studio is absolutely gorgeous, with generous space to work in. Combine all that with some amazing cake & coffee.....just a wonderful creative morning! Can't recommend it enough!

The studio is absolutely stunning, the most beautiful I have ever seen - well equipped, light and totally inspiring to work in.   The homemade cake was such a personal and delicious touch too. Armi is an excellent teacher, very friendly,  really well-prepared and informative, supportive and inspiring. Her studio is a delightful space full of light, and with enough space for each of the 5pf us to have our own work Station with rollers and inks and papers, etc.

She provided everything we needed to make a number of mono prints using several different techniques,. She had prepared lots of beautiful pressed flowers and grasses that we rolled up and printed as a fantastic array of materials to create textures and colours , drawers full of collage papers and various treasures. She has clearly been collecting all this stuff for years and is so generous to share  it with us.
And there’s coffee and cake!
My only complaint would be that 2 1/2 hours flew past and I didn’t want to leave.
I would definitely encourage anyone, beginners of practicing artists , to enjoy a session with Armi in her stunning studio. You won’t be disappointed.

This was a great fun introduction to mono printing. We had the run of Armi's beautiful studio, which is a totally inspirational space in itself, and had lots of opportunity to play with the different techniques that Armi showed us. The only disappointment was how short the session was, as by the time I was getting to grips with the possibilities it was time to pack up. I could have gone on all day!

Armi packed a great deal into a couple of hours which flew by in her perfect studio, filled with light, a true creative space. I learned loads despite being a lifelong dabbler, was so absorbed I had no idea I'd fingerprinted my face thoroughly. Superb instruction, felt able to experiment. Totally achieved what I wanted, which is to revive the creative process, get the itchy fingers back. Job done, but will be back for more classes as a springboard to get back in the groove.

Fantastic experience!! During this workshop in her fabulous studio, Armi leads the participants into the world of mono printmaking via light warm up printing exercises, great technical explanations and inspiring examples. There is ample of time to just enjoy the flow and create work independently with Armi’s support and creative guidance. Participants were surprised and stunned by the work produced by themselves as the process contains so many elements of unplanned beautiful surprise effects. Armi’s own enthusiasm about printing is absolutely infectious, and only adds to the wonderful printing experience!

The afternoon was  spent learning about mono printing . We were shown by the lovely Armi how to use different techniques and media. It was such a relaxing afternoon. Armi was the perfect teacher and I would definitely attend another of her courses. 

Mono printing is a great form of printmaking for beginners and seasoned practitioners - accessible and immediate, you will produce prints easily once shown how.

Gelli printing is a relatively new form of mono printing produced without a press and made possible by the invention of a mineral based reusable soft printing plate. The resulting one-off prints are richly layered and can be colourful or subtle depending on your choice. 
The soft sensitive surface allows detailed textures such as plants or woven fabrics to be replicated easily into your designs.  You will be shown many examples of the wide ranging possibilities of Gel plate mono printing before starting your own exploration. 
All possibilities will be fully demonstrated so you feel confident to produce many of your own prints in this experimental workshop. Help will be given when needed to make sure you learn and are able to take away the skills necessary to continue this great form or printing in your own time.

Gelli Printmaking Workshop

N5 workshops is an inspirational environment.  All materials are laid out for you to use and the course starts with a short presentation from Armi explaining how to do gelli printing.  Numbers are kept small so there is plenty of time for Armi to give everyone the time they need. Armi is very friendly and helpful and has many years of experience teaching Art. Experience varies amongst the group but you will meet like minded people who are all very interesting and enthusiastic about learning the skill. At the end of the day I was very proud to take home some lovely prints and I will definitely sign up for some more workshops.  Added to this delicious refreshments served in a beautiful environment.

This was a really fun morning held in beautiful surroundings. Armi gave us a series of demonstrations and then let us play with the paints, using our own stencils or ones from her studio stash. It was a quick and affordable introduction to gelli printmaking.

Armi runs her Gelli Printmaking workshop in an environment that could not possibly be more inspiring. She opens up her atelier for the participants, and allows her guests to access her vast collection of most extraordinary creative printing items. Armi’s stunning garden serves as further inspiration and creative source for further printing material, and delicious home baked cakes or biscuits help the participants to stay energised.  To set the scene, Armi presents interesting techniques and examples to inspire, then helps the participants to access the world of Gelli print making with creative warm up exercises, before the guests are then let loose to create with no limit to imagination. Fantastic experience!!!

I attended a gelli print workshop this morning and I just wanted to say thank you to Amri who ran the work shop, I had a wonderful time. I hadn’t really done any print making since my art A level course many years ago and it was great to try my hand at a new technique and to reconnect with my creative side! Armi is a lovely,  friendly and welcoming teacher and wonderful artist.

She has so many creative ideas and heaps of interesting materials, Stencils, flowers, & all sorts of found unexpected textures to print with. 
She also has a variety of papers and fabrics to print on, and she encourages you to experiment with anything you like.

Clearly Armi has been teaching for years; her preparation and organization are so professional it makes the whole workshop (which could be quite chaotic and messy!) flow seamlessly. 

We were a very mixed group, from a professional artist to a complete beginner, and everyone produced work that they were really happy with.

And then, the icing on the cake, is that all of this takes place in her stunning studio and garden, which  looks ready to be photographed by architectural digest! 

Everything about the day was a treat!

I attended with my mum and sister and all three of us had such a wonderful and creative time.  Armi is so friendly and helpful and such a beautiful, caring, and welcoming person.  
The workshop was very relaxed and it was easy to create little pieces of art.  Even if you do not think that you would be very good, Armi shows you that you can be very creative and is helpful throughout.
There were lots of different types of paper and cards to use and so many interesting items to use for printing.
Armi and her husband are so kind to open up their beautiful home and garden not only for classes (with a delicious homemade cake and tea included too) but for the NGS charity (highly recommended as well).

I went to a gelli printing class and it  was very well organised with masses of information clearly conveyed in a short space of time without feeling daunting.  Armi had lots of resources ready for us both for inspiration and use (stencils, masks, a huge variety of things for making marks in the paint as well as different types of medium and loads of different substrates to try) and she happily picked leaves from her beautiful garden as well. She is a great teacher (and artist) and there was a lovely atmosphere -  I think all 6 participants would say we had a wonderful time. There was space to learn from each other and review what we were all doing while we had a break for coffee and a delicious home-made cake.  The studio is fabulous - it's almost worth going just to see the house and garden!  It is also only a 20 minute walk from the train station - a bus would get you even closer so easily accessible without a car.

Come and experience Gelli plate mono printmaking onto a choice of different papers.  Stencils and textures create richly layered multi coloured one-off prints.

Intaglio collagraph printing has exciting textural results obtained from easy to prepare plates with no chemicals. Marks are incised and textures collaged onto a special card plate with a variety of tools and materials which create a wide range of textures and tones within the resulting printed image.  Comprehensive examples, possibilities and demonstrations will guide you through the process from start to finish so you learn and gain confidence in this fascinating art form. You will be shown how to make you own printing plate and how to use the etching press, how to add colour and collage elements to your print.   Several finished prints and your plate will be yours to take home. . Bring any visual inspiration or be inspired by many ideas when you get here. You may get messy so don't wear your best clothes! I will provide an apron and gloves. Bring a packed lunch, teas coffees and cake provided!

From cards to decorations and wrapping paper....
After seeing  examples and demos designed to encourage and inspire, you will learn how to select and transfer a chosen design onto your lino and cut safely using a variety of marks.

You will be shown how to ink your lino with just the right amount of ink, how to use the presses and how to print without a press.

You'll be shown how to add colour and collage elements 
and print onto a variety of papers, blank cards, or fabric (you may bring a T Shirt or similar)  and produce several prints to take home.
Your printing block is yours to take away to continue your printing adventures at home.

I had such a lovely time at Armi's Lino Printing workshop. It had been a while since I had done this process and she went through everything and demonstrated each stage of the process. The facilities are great and the home made cake too!

The setting for the course is inspirational and the workshop is very user friendly with all tools and materials readily at hand to use as needed.  I had never seen this media being used before so I was a complete novice. The course starts with a short powerpoint presentation covering the key aspects of the skill and then Armi shows everyone how to get started and you're off. The numbers were small enabling Armi to give all members of the course exactly what they need throughout the day. If you get stuck or need to be shown something again or if you need inspiration Armi is at hand to help you along. By the end of the day I had produced some really lovely prints and also learnt how to stitch some of the prints into a little booklet. We stopped for a delicious lunch. In addition to what I learnt and took home (feeling very pleased with myself) I also met some lovely people who were on the course too. All in all a brilliant day out!

Really enjoyed the lino printing class. Something I've wanted to try for ages. We were shown how to achieve really good prints to bring home at the end. Everything provided including loads of choices of paper to print on. Delicious cake too and all in a beautiful workshop. A brilliant morning- thank you!

A welcoming atmosphere in beautiful surroundings with insightful teaching of the art of lino printing.  The subject matter of line and form in nature was a perfect inspiration for creating a template.  The time flew by as we were led into the process of printing using various papers and printing presses.  It has inspired me to continue at home.

I had such a lovely time in Armi’s Lino Print workshop. It was held on a Sunday afternoon in her incredible studio in East Molsey, down the road from Hampton Court Palace. As a new mummy  (baby 4 months old) it was the perfect workshop to ease me back into being creative again. Fabulous workshop!  Beautiful surroundings adorned with amazing natural found objects to provide inspiration and relaxing background music. We were encouraged to experiment, and I surprised myself with my freehand drawing  I was delighted with my finished print and the variety of methods we explored. Would definitely recommend! Our creative workshops are a great way to bond, challenge, educate, or simply have fun with your team.  
Perfect for team-building; you get to make a mess, create, learn, collaborate, be stimulated and sometimes be taken out of your comfort zone. You will be guided by fully qualified art educator, Armi Maddison, who will guide you through an art or print process or perhaps more than one, planned in advance. 
We will discuss beforehand your aims for the session, what you would like to get out of the workshop or day and build a tailor-made experience for your team. We are able to provide delicious lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
